Sleeping bags too are made of  different materials, a waterproof one takes up little space in the bag once folded, whereas a cotton one will take too much  and can weigh heavy. Pick one that suits your need and the weather you may face in the area. Today there are waterproof  sleeping bags which are insulated to provide warmth, thus making it simpler to carry.

There is other gear that is used in the camping world; a proper knapsack to carry all of these things. Some food tins as  cooking food is not the same in nature like at home. Tins take little space and can be eaten once opened, matches to start a  bonfire, torches to see in the dark and to light your way, mosquito repellant sprays or bug creams to keep the creepy  crawlies away.
