Camping A Fun Way To Spend Your Vacations

Camping is a great recreational activity for both youngsters and adults. It is a good way to channel the restless energy of  the children in a good way and to make them aware of mother nature at the same time. This is why there are a lot of girl  scouts and boy scouts clubs. In earlier times there were no other means to keep one self engaged and entertained. Today with  television and computer gadgets taking up the child’s attention, camping has been pushed back.

There is a revival happening  now. Summer camps for kids and adults have been redesigned to make the experience a more fun filling adventure. There are  camping trails and camping parks where one can practise camping on their own. All campers need certain equipment to carry out  camping. These are essential for a camper to have; a camping tent, a sleeping bag, a knapsack to carry the sleeping bag and  the tent, as well as other items required such as food, water and rope.

In the camping world there are many types of  equipment being sold. One does not necessarily have to invest in brand new equipment. There is used equipment that is also  offered on sale, these do not put a dent in your pocket. Note before purchase of any camping equipment, check to make sure it  is sturdy whether new or used. If the ropes look frayed in certain spots, it would be advisable to invest in new ones or to  ask for a replacement if bought brand new.

There are different types of camping tents, some are of canvas material whereas some are made of water proof material. The  latter is easy to fold and pack away compared to the former. Canvas camping tents are generally used in camps where the  weather is warm and the camping spot is stationary and not constantly moving. Tents meant for the codl weather have  insulation built in them to keep the cold out and to keep the heat inside constant. When traveling in cold areas it is  advisable to always wear layers to keep on warm.

Sleeping bags too come in different materials. There are sleeping bags which  are built of wool, this keeps the occupant warm and it is not heavy to fold and carry, whereas cotton sleeping bags can get  heavy and cumbersome. Some sleeping bags are lined inside with fleece to keep the person warm and from outside have water  proof or water resistant material. This helps in keeping the water off the bag and prevents it from getting wet.
